How can you do valve maintenance when the electric gate valve can’t be fully closed?

Electric gate valves have some confusing problems in the whole process of application. For example, if the gate valve cannot be fully closed, what are you supposed to do?

The reasons are presented as follows:

(1)  There is residue stuck in the sealing surface, and dirt accumulates at the bottom of the valve or between the valve wedge and body;

(2)  The external thread of the valve stem is rusted, and the valve cannot rotate;

(3)  The valve sealing face is destroyed, causing leakage of media;

(4) The valve stem and the valve disc are not well connected, so that the valve disc and seat ring cannot be strictly touched.

JHF introduces our solution as per the followings:

(1) There is a residue stuck in the valve sealing face

Sometimes the valve can’t be tightly closed, as it is stuck because of the residue between the sealing face of the valve. At this time, it is forbidden shutting it down immediately with excessive force. It is suggested that the valve should be actuated with larger opening, then try to shut it down. Do it over and over again until the residue is cleared. Otherwise it should be re-examined.

(2) the valve sealing face is destroyed

In the case that the valve still can’t be tightly closed after electric actuator opens it several times, check if the surface is damaged or scratched by medium erosion or foreign matter friction. If such damages are found, disassemble the seat ring and grind it if possible. Otherwise replace the valve to avoid further damage.

(3)the stem external thread is rusted

For the valve that is normally open, when it is inadvertently turned off, because the external thread of the valve stem has already rusted, it will also cause a tightness problem. In response to this situation, the electric actuator can be turned on several times and the valve can be closed.

(4)the valve stem and the valve wedge are not well connected.

In this case, the stem and stem nut must be greased to ensure that the valve's electric actuation are flexible. It is necessary to have a reliable maintenance plan to improve the maintenance of the valve.
