Structural characteristics and application of soft-sealed gate valve in water supply pipe network
In order to reduce the soil depth of the pipeline in the water supply network, generally large-diameter pipelines are equipped with butterfly valves, and those that have little effect on the soil-covering depth should strive to be equipped with gate valves, so the boundary of the caliber should be considered in each locality according to specific conditions. In terms of use in the past ten years, butterfly valves have higher failures than gate valves, so it is worth paying attention to expanding the use of gate valves when conditions permit.
In recent years, many domestic valve manufacturers have developed and imitated soft-sealed gate valves. These gate valves have the following characteristics compared to traditional wedge-type or parallel double-gate valve:
A. The valve body and bonnet of the soft-sealed gate valve are cast by precision casting, which is formed in one operation, basically without mechanical processing, without using sealing copper rings, and saving non-ferrous metals.
B. There is no pit at the bottom of the soft-sealed gate valve, no slag is accumulated, and the failure rate of the gate valve is low.
C. The size of the soft seal rubber-lined valve plate is uniform and interchangeable.
So soft-seal gate valve will be a form that the water supply industry is willing to adopt. At present, the diameter of soft-sealed gate valves manufactured in China reaches 1500mm, but the diameters of most manufacturers are between 80-300mm. JHF's production of soft-sealed gate valve bodies is entrusted to domestic foundries to use resin sand molds for recasting. Soft-sealed valve plates are imported from a foreign company. We believe that the key component of soft-sealed gate valves is rubber-lined valve plates, which have high technical requirements and are not accessible to all manufacturers abroad. They are often purchased and assembled from reliable manufacturers.
The copper nut block of the domestic soft seal gate valve is embedded above the rubber-lined valve plate. Similar to the structure of the gate valve, the rubber lining of the valve plate is easily peeled due to the movable friction of the nut block. For a soft-sealed gate valve of a foreign company, the copper nut block is embedded in the rubber-lined gate plate to form a whole, which overcomes the above disadvantages, but the concentricity of the valve cover and valve body combination is higher.
When opening and closing the soft-sealed gate valve, do not close it too far, as long as the water-stop effect is achieved, otherwise it is not easy to open or the rubber lining peels off.
