What is globe valve?

A globe valve is a valve that moves a closure member (disc) along the centerline of the seat. Depending on the form of movement of the disc, the change in the seat opening is proportional to the disc travel so it is very suitable for the adjustment of the flow rate. Meanwhile globe valves have relatively short opening or closing stroke of the valve stem is relatively short and reliable shutoff function. Therefore, globe valve is very suitable for cutting, regulating and throttling.

Advantage:

1 During the opening and closing process, the friction between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body is smaller than that of the gate valve, so it is wear-resistant.

2 The opening height is generally only 1/4 of the valve seat passage, so it is much smaller than the gate valve;

3 Usually there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and the valve disc, so the manufacturing process is better and easy to repair;

4 Because the packingis generally a mixture of graphite, the temperature resistance level is higher. Generally, globe valves are widely used in steam pipelines.

Disadvantages:

1 Since the flow direction of the medium through the valve changes, the minimum flow resistance of the shut-off valve is also higher than most other types of valves;

2 Due to the long stroke, the opening speed is slower than the ball valve.
