Basic terminology and definition of valve parts
We provide below table to introduce the valve parts
Serial number | Part Name | definition |
| Body | Main parts of the valve that are directly connected to the pipe (or machine equipment) and control the flow of the medium |
| Bonnet | The valve body is connected to the valve body (or through other parts, such as diaphragms) to form the main part of the pressure chamber |
| Wedge | A general term for parts used to cut or regulate the flow of a medium, such as a gate in a gate valve, a valve flap in a throttle valve, etc. |
| Disc | Opening and closing parts in valves such as globe valves , throttle valves, check valves, etc. |
| Seat ring | a part mounted on the valve body and forming a sealing pair with the opening and closing member |
| Sealing face | The opening and closing member is closely fitted with the valve seat (valve body), and the two contact surfaces for sealing function |
| Stem | Passing the opening and closing force to the main part on the opening and closing member |
| Yoke bushing | Parts that form a motion pair with the stem thread |
| Stuffing box | a structure on the bonnet (or valve body) that is filled with packing to prevent the medium from leaking from the valve stem |
| Gland | a part used to compress the packing to achieve sealing |
| Packing | Filling the stuffing box (or stuffing box) to prevent the media from leaking from the valve stem |
| Packing seat | Supporting filler, part that keeps packing sealed |
| Yoke | a part for supporting the stem nut and the transmission mechanism on the gland or valve body |
| Back seat | A sealing structure that prevents the medium from penetrating into the stuffing box when the valve is fully open |
| Pressure seat | Mechanism for automatically sealing a valve body and a valve cover by using medium pressure |
| Impact hand wheel | Handwheel structure that utilizes impact force to relieve valve operating force |
| Type of connection | Various means of connection of valves to pipes or machinery (eg flange connections, threaded connections, welded connections, etc.) |
| Wedge disc | The opening and closing parts in the gate valve are of single gate, double gate and elastic gate. |
| Single gate disc | a rigid shutter structure manufactured in one piece |
| Double gate disc | A ram structure consisting of two rams |
| Flexible gate disc | A shutter structure capable of generating elastic deformation |
| Ball | Opening and closing member in ball valve |
| Disc | Opening and closing part in butterfly valve |
| Diaphragm | Opening and closing member in diaphragm valve |
| Plug | Opening and closing member in the plug valve |
| Hinge pin | a fixed axis around which a valve flap rotates in a swing check valve |
| Arm | In a swing check valve, a part that connects the valve disc to the pin shaft and rotates around the pin shaft |
| Throat diameter | Safety valve seat passage diameter of the smallest section |
| Adjusting bolt | Sleeve parts for adjusting the amount of spring compression in safety valves |
| Spring plate | Part of the safety valve supporting the spring |
| Valve guide | a part of the safety valve that guides the valve flap |
| Disc holder | The safety valve is connected to the valve flap to change the flow direction of the medium and increase the opening height of the part. |
| Adjusting ring | The safety valve is connected to the valve seat or the guide sleeve to adjust the opening and closing pressure difference |
| Regulation spring | a spring used to set the outlet pressure in a pressure reducing valve |
| Returnning spring | a spring used to reset the opening and closing member in the pressure reducing valve |
| Diaphragm | a part of a pressure reducing valve that acts as a pressure after the balance valve |
| Disc plate | |
| Inverted bucket | Bell-shaped parts that actuate the flap in the trap |
| Ball float |
